As
doctors, our commitment is to follow the evolutions
of science in our area and dispose it for the benefit
of our patients. Considering vision as the central
purpose in our work, it is possible to say the ophthalmology
was the area which was most influenced by the advances
and break-troughs in technology this past decade.
Few processes in the human body are as complex as
vision. More than the formation of image in the
retina, vision involves complex transmission systems,
association and interpretation of the electric impulses
in the brain.
New lasers and medication sided with new cirurgical
techniques have aided those with illness and also
those with conditions considered normal as the correction
of refractive errors or even aging, such as prebyopia,
bringing comfort. These advances include the involvement
between extreme areas such as Visual Learning Dyslexia
(which are of great importance to students) to the
utilization of special lenses in cataract surgery
improving night visions up to 53% or even the correction
of presbiopia and keratocone.
It’s also important to highlight that medical
activity is essentially personal and that each technique
or medication must be analyzed based on the necessity
or personal characteristic of each patient.
The relationship between doctors and patients has
been modified by the opportunities of communication
brought by the internet. A patient better informed
also participates more actively in his treatment
and in the multiple choices of diagnostics offered.
It’s in an ambient of renovation and innovation
greedy for quality information that HOLHOS invests
in a new website and in new tools for medical education.
Thank you for visiting our website. I hope our material
proves useful.
